The Frequently Asked Questions

What is a coin worth?
One coin is worth $1 plus tax (non-refundable). Bonus coins have no monetary value. There are several ways for you to be able to receive bonus coins as a reward, whether by inviting friends or participating in the loyalty rewards program. Each bid placed, whether using coins or bonus coins, increases the auction by a penny ($0.01).
What is the difference between a coin and a bonus coin?
Bonus coins have no monetary value and can only be used to place a bid on an auction. Unlike regular coins, these will not be deducted from the actual price of the item if you decide to purchase it at the end of the auction.
How can I obtain coins?
By going to the "Get coins" section, you will see that these can be purchased in coin packages at the price of one dollar per coin (excluding tax). Certain packages come with extra bonus coins! You can also obtain them by winning a bag of coins at auctions.
How can I obtain bonus coins?
There are many ways to get bonus coins. Firstly, you can receive them by purchasing one of our coin packages. The larger the package, the more bonus coins are given as a reward. You can also receive bonus coins by leaving a testimonial for each one of the auctions that you have won. You will receive 1 bonus coin in exchange for one written testimonial, 3 bonus coins for a photo testimonial and 5 bonus coins for a video testimonial. All videos must be approved before a reward is granted. You can also obtain bonus coins by inviting your friends to create an account at just1dollar.ca. When your friend creates an account and purchases the first coin package, you will immediately receive 5 bonus coins. Your friend, in turn, will receive 3 bonus coins in addition to the 5 bonus coins awarded when an account is created. The rewards offered are shown in the Coins section of your account. Finally, you can get bonus coins by increasing your rank in the just1dollar.ca loyalty rewards program.
Is my coin lost when I place a bid?
For each bid placed, one coin is withdrawn from your account. The total number of coins and bonus coins that you have is always displayed on your account bar. If you have bonus coins, these will be used when your coins have been completely depleted. If you have bid several times on an auction and, unfortunately, you lost, it is often possible to purchase the item from this auction. Certain specially-marked items are available for purchase within a limited period of 24 hours after the close of the auction. You will receive an instant discount equivalent to the number of coins you bid during the auction. Example: If you bid 10 coins, you would get a discount of $10.00 off the sale price. “Bonus coins” do not count toward a discount. Bonus coins have no monetary value and can only be used to place a bid on an auction.
I have coins and bonus coins. Which will be debited from my account first?
Your coins with a $1 value will be debited from your account first. If you have bonus coins, these will be used when your coins have been completely depleted.
What is a "quick auction”?
A quick auction means that the time allotted for a new bid is less than that of a regular auction. Quick auctions have a 20-second timer. When a customer bids a coin to increase the price by a penny, the timer is reset to its initial time the same as in a regular auction.
What is a "progressive auction”?
A progressive auction works like a regular or quick auction. The only difference is the level of the timer. Progressive auctions have a timer that decreases progressively by 1 second with each batch of 100 bids ($1.00). So increasingly, customers must be more attentive since the reaction time for placing a bid decreases rapidly. Nonetheless, the timer for a progressive auction cannot go below the 10 second bar.
How long can an auction last?
The time at which an auction starts is clearly posted on the website. There is no time limit on different auctions. When the auction gets underway, customers can bid their coins and the seconds on the timer decrease. If no bid has been recorded when the timer reaches 0, the auction is automatically restarted. If few customers restart, an auction may often last several minutes while more popular auctions may last several hours. An auction is completed when the "Auction completed" sign appears. It is then impossible to continue bidding.
How does quick purchase work?
In order to configure the quick purchase function, you only have to go to the "Config. quick purchase" heading on your account bar. Then all you have to do is select the package that you wish to purchase quickly. Then just click on the "Quick purchase" button to go directly to PayPal each time you want to purchase new coins.

I placed a bid, but I’m not the leader!
In order to become the leader of an auction, you must be the last one to have placed a bid. Your nickname is then posted at the top of the list. When another customer places a bid after yours, this individual goes to the top of the list and you are no longer the leader. You then have to bid again in order to become the new leader. Our timing system is very accurate. By consulting the auction sheet, you have access to the complete history of bids that have been placed.
I bid at the last second and I didn’t win the auction!
The technology we use is cutting edge and the information we receive when you place a bid is very accurate. However, there are several factors that may prevent your bid from being taken into account by our system. A problem with delay (lag) from your ISP may cause you to lose an auction. We recommend that you do not systematically bid at the last second so that you have every opportunity so that you don’t miss out on the item you want.
